The Republican Party’s crypto-friendly leaders, Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine, won the 1st and 6th Congressional Districts of the US House in Florida’s special elections, held on April 1. Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and State Senator Randy Fine were backed by Fairshake, a crypto-based Political Action Committee (PAC). Both Republicans received $1.5 million from the PAC for their election campaigns.

Following the declaration of the results, Patronis praised US President Donald Trump in an X post.

Patronis conquered the race against Democrat Gay Valimont, with a 57% win. Meanwhile, Fine secured 56.7% of the vote and outpaced his Democratic opponent, Josh Weil. That said, Patronis will succeed Matt Gaetz, whereas Fine will fill the role of Mike Waltz, who was appointed as National Security Adviser in November 2024.

Earlier, on March 21, several reports indicated that the fundraising PAC Fairshake decided to help these pro-crypto candidates following its influence in electing other crypto-supportive candidates in 2024. Moreover, a non-consumer advocacy group, Public Citizen, revealed that in 2024, several crypto companies contributed $119 million, primarily to non-partisan super PACs, including Firshake, to influence federal elections.

With Trump’s triumphant, crypto-friendly statements and announcements, the Republican Party, aka Grand Old Party (GOP), has become a crypto-curious party. Recently, after the 43rd Republican National Convention, the official Republican Party Platform released a document stating that the party leaders would end Democrats’ illegal and “un-American crypto crackdown” and reject establishing a Central Bank Digital Currency.

The document further reads, “We will defend the right to mine Bitcoin and ensure every American has the right to self-custody of their digital assets and transact free from government surveillance and control.”
