A doctored footage of the U.S. President Donald Trump revealing the Bitcoin whitepaper in the Oval Office has gone viral across multiple social media platforms. The deepfake clip shows Trump unveiling a framed copy of Bitcoin by pulling back the drapes while Fox News host Laura Ingraham looks on.

“You think Joe Biden would do this? I don’t think so,” says Trump, grinning in the video. And asked, …Do you think he even knows what it is?”

Meta and community notes on X flagged this video as manipulated. In fact, the video was spliced from a recent Fox News segment where Trump unveiled the drapes to showcase a copy of the ‘Declaration of Independence’ at the Oval Office.

Although the video is fake, the essence of the message of the video reflected Trump aggressively indulging in the crypto arena to transform the U.S. into “the crypto capital of the world.”

From Trump-branded NFTs to family backed tokens like $MELANIA, what started off as a campaign when he was running for presidency has now turned into a policy pivot, setting the tone for digital assets to thrive on.

Within just a few days of assuming duties as the President, Trump fired SEC chairman Gary Gensler and thereafter signed an executive order to create a Bitcoin reserve.
